The field names taken from a map prepared by local historian, the late Derek Church, based on old tithe map for the parish of Cuxton in 1839. The map featured in his book, Cuxton - Kentish Village. I am lucky enough to have his original drawing, which I have scanned and superimposed on to a modern aerial map to produce the version below...
Click on the map above and then use your own browser tools to zoom in. If you are viewing on a Windows PC, you can right-click on the map, select "Open Link in New Tab", then click on the new tab that appears at the top of the screen. This will give you a full screen view. You can now "left click" to zoom in, and use the bottom and right slider bars to navigate around the map.
It is remarkable how little the field boundaries have changed in the last 200 years...
